Basic cereal bars

Cereal bars are one of the best inventions as far as I’m concerned. That was until I broke my tooth on one a couple of months ago and been too scared to eat them again.

So last week I got a bit creative in the kitchen with ingredients I had in the cupboards.

These aren’t as crunchy as shop bought cereal bars, which is good for me and my silly teeth.

This is a basic recipe however, would be good to add dried apricots or raisins too. Infact, there’s probably loads of things you could add if you had the imagination or availability at the time in your kitchen!

I love these dunked in yogurt 😋



180g oats

40g ground almonds

3 tbsp coconut oil

3 tbsp honey

1 tsp vanilla extract


How to cook:

Pre-heat oven to 180°c/Gas Mark 4.

Line a shallow square baking tin with grease proof paper.

Combine ingredients using a spoon softening the coconut oil as you are doing so.

When thoroughly mixed pour into the baking tin and press down firmly making sure it is evenly spread and compact.

Bake in oven for around 20 mins or until the top of the oat mixture looks golden.

Remove from oven and allow to cool on a wire rack.

Cut into 12 slices.

These can be kept in an air tight container for around *4 days.

*I don’t know this for fact as pretty much anything I make is demolished within a day or two in our house 😩
